Privacy policy
Your numbers are yours.
CalcSenses is designed to calculate ordinary salary scenarios entirely in your browser. This policy explains what little we do collect, and what our partners collect.
This policy covers calcsenses.com ("CalcSenses", "we", "us"). We do not offer accounts, we do not sell personal information for money, and we never ask for Social Security numbers, National Insurance numbers, bank details or payroll documents.
Calculator inputs
The figures you type into a calculator are processed in your browser and are not saved to any database we operate.
When you copy a shareable result link, the inputs are written into that link's web address. Opening such a link sends the address to our hosting provider so the result can be shown, and, like any web request, it may appear briefly in the provider's routine security and performance logs. Only share result links you are comfortable sharing.
Information collected automatically
Like every website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical data needed to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is used for security, abuse prevention and performance, and is retained only for the provider's standard log periods.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and measures page speed without cookies, without fingerprinting and without tracking you across other websites.
We store one setting on your device: your light or dark theme preference, kept in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are visited and how the site performs, so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP address, which Google Analytics 4 does not store), device and browser type, and referring site.
We do not send calculator figures to Google Analytics, and query strings from shared result links are removed from the page addresses we report. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Advertising
CalcSenses may show advertising served by Google AdSense to keep the calculators free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices (US) or www.youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
Ads are always labelled and kept visually separate from calculator results. Advertisers have no influence over our calculations, sources or editorial content.
Cookies and your consent choices
Visitors in the UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland are asked for consent before advertising or analytics cookies are set. Until you make a choice, Google tags run in a restricted mode that does not store cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy and cookie settings link shown at the bottom of the page when advertising is active.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The calculators keep working without cookies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and US state privacy laws such as California's CCPA/CPRA, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising.
Because we hold almost no personal information ourselves, most requests are best handled through the consent controls above and Google's ad settings. For anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days. UK visitors may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Our legal bases for processing under the GDPR are legitimate interests (operating and securing the site) and consent (analytics and advertising cookies).
Children
CalcSenses is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the UK and EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
